    BCCI has the central contract system to compensate national team players. BCCI announced list of players who are awarded central contract for a 12 month period which is renewed every year based on performances in the previous year or potential of a young player. Central contract is further divided into several categories and most experienced and high performing players are placed into Category A+ or Category A. Below is the entire breakdown of current BCCI central contract.

    BCCI Central Contract Breakdown:

    Annual Retainer Fee: There are four categories in BCCI Central Contract and players are compensated with annual retainer fee. Higher the category more retainer player get. Apart from fixed retainer fee players are also paid match fee for every Test, ODI or T20i international matches. 

    Grade A+: INR 7 Crore (US$820,000) Annually

    Grade A: INR 5 Crore (US$585,000) Annually

    Grade B: INR 3 Crore (US$350,000) Annually

    Grade C: INR 1 Crore (US$115,000) Annually

    Match Fee: Apart from annual retainer fee, players who represent indian in any of the international formats also get match fee for every time they represent india. For every test match players are paid INR1.5 million (US$17,500). For every ODI players get INR 6 lakh ($7,000) and for every T20i match players are paid  INR 3 lakh ($3,500).

    Performance Related Bonuses: Players also enjoy several performance related bonuses. One of which is if a player represent India in test matches for mimimum 75% of the time in last 12 months he gets additional  INR 4.5 million ($52,000)

    *Here it is important to note that most the players in Indian central contracts are making way more money in IPL then playing for their national team. For example if we take Rishab Pants last 12 months earnings from both BCCI Central Contract and his lucrative IPL Contract we can see he is earning 5 times more money in IPL then playing for India. He is making around INR 250 Million ($3 million) from his IPL contract while he clears around INR 50 million ($600,000) from BCCI contract.
