Max Verstappen current contract with Red Bull Racing earns him base salary of $55 million (gross) per year. He can also earns performance related bonuses upto $20 million a-year taking his total package to around $75 million (gross) per year. It makes him the highest paid driver on the F1 grid at the moment ahead of Lewis Hamilton who earns around $60 million in base salary.
Humble Beginning: Max Verstappen signed his very first professional contract with Red Bull at the age of only 17 becoming the youngest F1 driver in history. His initial salary at Red Bull was only $277,000 per season. However by 2017 it had already increased to $3 million a-year.
2020 Contract Extension: Verstappen signed 3-year (2021/23) contract extension with Red Bull with massive salary increase of $25 million a-year. Making him the second highest paid F1 driver in the world.
Verstappen earned a total of $42 million in 2021 en-route to his first F1 title which included $25 million base salary and $17 million performance related bonuses.
He signed another financially improved 5-year (2024/28) contract with Red Bull which took his base salary to $55 million a-year plus performance related bonuses upto $10 million a-year.
