Timo Werner
Timo Werner is currently the highest paid player in RB Leipzig squad with €10 million (gross) in base salary plus another €1 million in performance related bonuses. However the club is trying to off-load him to free some wage space in the squad. He has agreed personal terms with NY Red Bull (MLS) and only club to club talks are remaining before he become NY Red Bull player.
Timo Werner came through the Sttutgart academy at the age of 18 and was one of the most highly rated player back in 2014/15. RB Leipzig bought him from Stuttgart for around €10 million in transfer fee. He initially signed 4-year (2016/20) contract worth €2 million (gross) per season. However in 2019, contract extension was signed which took his salary to €7 million (gross) per season. In 2021, Chelsea bought Timo Werner for transfer fee of €53 million a move which kind of back fired for both player and the club. He failed to adjust in Premier League and Chelsea sold him back to RB Leipzig for only €20 million in August 2022.
