Frankie De Jong transfer to Barcelona back in 2019 and with signed 6 year contract (2020/26) with Barcelona a year he was offered new 6-year contract (2020/26) with improved financial terms. However he too reduced wages in the first two years of his new contract because covid and salary cap issues to help Barcelona. He was suppose to be paid €14 million a year gross salary.
But he took reduced wages of only €3 million in 2020/21 season and €9.6 million in 2021/2022 season. Barcelona had to pay up the deferred wages in the remaining 4 years of his contract. That took his salary to €18 million a year (in 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons). €19 million a year (gross) in last two years of his contract.
