After impressive 9 race stint towards the end of 2024 season with Williams, Franco Colapinto was signed by Alpine F1 team on what is reported to be 5-year (2025/29) contract on-loan from Williams F1. Although on loan from Williams, Alpine hold all salary and other rights for the driver and if during 5-year contract another team is interested in signing Colapinto they will have to deal with Alpine and not Williams.
His 5-year contract with Alpine started as reserve driver in 2025 season. However Jack Doohan's poor form had him replaced after 6 races in to the season and Franco Colapinto has taken the seat for what looks like as full-time driver to partner Pierre Gasly.
Franco Colapinto is confirmed to drive for Alpine for 2026 season and his base salary is increased to standard $1.5 million/year contract plus bonuses.
