Cricket South Africa (CSA) Central Contract Breakdown:
CSA offer central contracts to around 20 players every year. The duration of the contract is from 1st June to 31st May next year. CSA place players in Central contracts in three different tiers.
Tier 1 comes with R2 million ($110,000) retainer fee while Tier 2 and and Tier 3 comes with R.1.4 million ($77,000) and R800,000 ($44,000) per year. Hybrid contracts are offered to players who are regular in ODI or T20 matches.
Tier 1: Approximately R2 million per year (≈ $110,000 USD)Tier 2: Approximately R1.4 million per year (≈ $77,000 USD)
Tier 3: Approximately R800,000 per year (≈ $44,000 USD)
Hybrid Contract: Estimated at around R1 million per year (≈ $55,000 USD), offered to players who are primarily available for limited-overs cricket or select series.
Apart from the retainer fee, CSA also offer match fee for every international match played. Its fixed and only paid to players in starting xi or included in the squad (75% of match). Match fee is different for all three formats.

- Players only receive match fees if selected in the playing XI.
- Unused squad members (e.g. 12th man) sometimes receive a reduced fee or none at all.
- Match fees are in addition to central contract salaries and bonuses (e.g. win bonuses, series performance bonuses).
*Below table shows how much each player can earn with their CSA central contract. Max yearly earnings are just for example purposes. Because they include money earned via match fee which can be different for players depending on how many matches each player play.
